It obviously hasn’t been 267 days, but it sure feels like it. Between all the sessions and the nightly activities I feel like I haven’t sat down for more than 2 seconds all week. A couple notable sessions today were about SQL server and one about sustainable environments.

There are a lot of best practices talked about in both sessions that I need to take back and discuss with my team. One of the bit (and easy) things noted was using PAL to help diagnose issues. It’s a pretty cool little free utility that flags on certain criteria to tell you what is wrong on your servers. Something so easy sure could have such big returns.
The DB sessions talked about Vertipaq storage engine for SQL. This is another one that sounds pretty easy to implement and offers some big returns on our larger data sets.
After all the work was done TechEd wrapped up the week with a party at Universal Studio. It fun to do the rollar coasters and the experience rides. I think my favorite was still the Hulk. I love how it just shoots you out of the starting gate and then immediately does a cork screw. My stomach was doing good until I was forced to ride the tea cups.
Overall a very informative week, but I am definitely ready to go home.
